People often think that making money as a college student is very tough, and most of the time, I agree with them. But would you believe if I tell you I am also a college-going student and I am making $$$$ to $$$$$ every month along with giving enough time to my studies?
Let’s talk a bit about my journey, and then we will move to the main topic – though you can skip this part if you don’t want to know about it.
So, when I was in high school, I decided that I will bear all my expenses by myself. I know it may sound a bit foolish for a school-going kid, but in my mind, I decided I’ll do it. So, I started looking for ways that will not affect my studies and help me in making some money.
I tried so many things, but all of them were somehow affecting my studies, and I didn’t want to compromise with that. Then I saw a YouTube video of a guy showing his monthly earning, and I was shocked seeing how this guy is making money by just uploading videos.
So, I started YouTube, but I failed because I had no interest in making videos. Then I got into blogging, and from the past four years, I am doing it along with completing my education, and it is helping me to make decent money online.
That’s why I think I am the right person to guide you in your journey to make money online, along with giving enough time to your studies. So, here are some of the best ways that you can go with to make your first dollar online-
Do Freelancing
One of the easiest ways to make money online as a college student is by doing freelancing. In my entire journey of blogging, I have met so many freelancers that are doing it professionally and making way more money than me.
Though you are not looking at a full-time job but still, freelancing has a lot of potentials for part-timers as well. Most of my college friends are doing it and easily making up to $100/day by just working for three to four hours a day.
Freelancing is like selling services that you can offer to your customers online. You can be a graphics designer, coder, content writer, video creator, proof-reader, or any other thing you are skilled in and sell it as a service online.
If you have any skill that you can sell as a service, you are good to go. But keep in mind that always try to go with something you are interested in. It makes working much easier, and you can give it more time rather than spending time playing video games.
Also, freelancing is not that easy for beginners. You need to be really good at the service you are offering, and initially, you won’t get enough money for the tasks you are completing. But still, it is the quickest way to make money online as a college student, and with time, you can increase your earnings. You must read this article on online jobs for college student.
Try YouTube
If you are interested in making videos, then you can try YouTube as it is a great and the easiest way to make money online. Gaining popularity on YouTube is not that tough as it was when I started it. I see a lot of people, including students, college kids, and even start-ups, are also using YouTube for their benefits.
The time is changing, and not everyone has enough time to read those lengthy 2000+ words article. Instead, they prefer watching a five or seven minutes video. And the best part of YouTube is that you can start with anything you are passionate enough about, such as playing guitar, cooking, makeup, knowledge, etc.
However, you need to have a super interest in creating videos because sometimes YouTube can take up to six months to a year in getting a decent stable earning.
Start a blog
Before talking about blogging, let me tell you one thing – Blogging is not that easy as freelancing or YouTubing. Blogging is not like starting a new blog, and from the next month, you’ll start making money. You need to be serious about it, and you have to give it enough time and importance if you want to run a successful blog.
Even I got failed two times and wasted nearly eight months before starting a blog that started paying me. And this is the dark truth of blogging, but anyhow, it is one of the best ways to make money as a college-going kid as there is no limit to how much you can earn every month. Also, it allows you to make money even when you are sleeping.
With that said, Blogging is an excellent way for a student to start making money online. Just like YouTube, you can start a blog about anything you are passionate about, such as Technology, Guitars, Bikes, Cars, How to, and so many other things.
But for blogging, you need to learn about a lot of things like keywords research, best SEO tools, CMS, Backlinks, etc.
Become an Instagram Influencer
Instagram is quite popular nowadays, and more and more brands are using it to promote their stuff. You can use it to make money by creating a successful Instagram page.
The best part is that you don’t need to be a supermodel with six-pack abs. It will be great if you have, but that is not necessarily important because there are tons of niches that don’t even require how you look. Also, you don’t need to invest anything apart from your time.
Wrap up-
So, these were the best ways for college students to make money online. Any of these methods don’t require you to invest much money. Only for blogging, you need to spend around $100 to $200 on domains, hosting, and some tools, but blogging has a lot of potentials to make money and could be used as a profession in the future as well.
